Will one hotel be sufficient for both Yellowstone and Jackso

Planning on staying at the Best Western Teton West, the middle of June. Will this be a good base for travelling to Jackson and Yellowstone without getting rooms somewhere else during our stay. Even tho it is only Feb. all the rooms in Yellowstone are booked. Thanks for any advise. Iris

I would surely go down to Jackson and stay there a night. Is your hotel in West Yellowstone???enjoy

Will one hotel be sufficient for both Yellowstone and Jackso

the Best Western Teton West is in Driggs. That is why I was asking if it was like half way between the Park andJackson Hole.

Gee, Driggs, is a bit out of the way...what do you want to see, while you are there??? where do you fly into, or are you driving. enjoy

driving from Phoenix, Az. How is Driggs out of the way. It is listed as Jackson motel in the AAA book but I noticed it is in Id but on the border of the National Park on the Wyoming side. Maybe I am confused. Perhaps I should look for another motel. We plan on doing Jackson Hole, Yellowstone and any place that is interesting in near vicinity. We are in no rush. Retired and have no need to rush back to the hot desert. Thanks for replying. Iris

Driggs is a lovely place. BUT, if you look on the map, the Tetons, the west side of the parks, run North and South. If you want to get to Jackson, you go south and THEN up the Teton Pass, coming into Wilson. OR you can go NORTH and come into YEllowstone Park, from the West entrance. You could circle the park. Stay in Driggs, go north, and go to the Parks. Then stay in Jackson. If you want to do the park in one day, that is a long one. YOu can%26#39;t go East from Driggs, the Tetons are in the way!!!

I would stay in Jackson, have lots of places i know of, Go into the park, ect and use that as your base. Or, go to Jackson, stay, go through the park, stay in West Yellowstone, and come back to Driggs. Have you tried all the rooms in Yellowstone, jenny lake and all? enjoy

thanks for the info. Don%26#39;t need to go to Driggs if Jackson Hole is good base to stay. Iris

look at a map and check out how the mountains go...do you need a recommendation for JH?? enjoy

I don%26#39;t care for Driggs. We stayed there for a baseball tournament two summers ago, maybe in July. The Best Western is as good as it gets in Driggs and families staying there weren%26#39;t impressed. My non-smoking room at the Super 8 stunk of smoke.

With the winter run-off, the mosquitoes were still aggressive. There really aren%26#39;t that many conveniences -- even the Subway sandwich store had trouble opening for the players. There are far better hotels of every price range, markets, restaurants in Jackson Hole.

If you have a large group, look into renting a condo. There%26#39;s a huge selection in Teton Village, Teton Pines, all along that corridor. Or you can stay in Jackson where there are plenty of choices.

I%26#39;ve been in Jackson in early June and had snow, so stay on top of the weather conditions.

There%26#39;s a fantastic summer symphony in Teton Village, but I don%26#39;t know the season dates.

For a special date night, try to get dinner reservations at Jenny Lake Lodge inside the park. Have drinks at the Four Seasons in Teton Village. I personally enjoy Bubba%26#39;s Barbecue, but it may be my southern bias.

To answer your question--West Yellowstone to Jackson really isn%26#39;t a commutable distance. Maybe as the bird flys, it looks possible, but as the bird drives, I would make two reservations.

Differing opinion here--I love the Idaho side of the Tetons--it%26#39;s becoming more and more developed, but still isn%26#39;t as touristy as Jackson Hole (which I also love).

If you have any desire to see Idaho potates growing, take the Idaho side--it%26#39;s rural and really beautiful if you like that kind of thing. And you absolutely HAVE TO SEE Mesa Falls. It%26#39;s a loop off the main road before Island Park. Really--you can%26#39;t go through that part of the country without checking it out.

Go up on the Idaho side and back on the Wyoming side.

Iris, It sounds like you have changed your mind about trying to see both parks from Driggs. That is good. Driggs is beautiful, but not convenient to either Yellowstone or Tetons.

However I also believe that Jackson is not a good place from which to visit Yellowstone. It is a fun place and you%26#39;ll want to spend some time there and visit the Tetons from there. However in order to see Yellowstone you will need to move. You could get up to Old Faithful from Jackson and back in a day and maybe if you push it do another day to Canyon and back. But if you want to go all the way to Mammoth then plan on moving to a hotel in Gardiner.
