Are there any campgrounds on Lake Coeur d%26#39;Alene? Any cabins for rent? My family is planning a late-July or early-August family reunion in 2009. Some of the 30 people attending prefer camping over staying in a motel or hotel.

Here%26#39;s the link to the only major campground I know, and they have some cabin rentals too I think. They used to be our local KOA campground, but changed owners (I think) and are now the A-OK campground.

Your family reunion in this area should be quite fun.

There are a couple of US Forest Service Campgrounds near or on the lake, one at Beauty Creek about 10 miles out of town just off a state highway and one south of town near Harrison, Idaho at Bell Bay. Here is the link to the local National Forest, www.fs.fed.us/ipnf Bell Bay is at least at 45 minute drive south of town on a winding slow state highway. Also about 45 minutes south of town is Heyburn State Park located at the very south end of Lake Coeur d%26#39; Alene. An alternative to Lake Coeur d%26#39; Alene would be Farragut State Park located on Lake Pend Oreille, about a 30 minute drive north of town. Farragut is a very large state park with multiple campgrounds and its located close to the Silverwood Theme Park. Both state parks have cabins for rent.
