Guesthouse Inn

We will be staying there in a few weeks for 3 nights while we go to Silverwood and I am just wondering what to expect, the website didn%26#39;t have any pics. of the outside but I did see a little of what the rooms look like, I guess I just want to know if it is an o.k. place? Any opinions?

Guesthouse Inn

Well... the reviews aren%26#39;t too good both on this site and others (google ';guesthouse inn coeur';) but it seems no worse than any of the other chain motels. I do know people who have stayed there (it%26#39;s been a few years) and they didn%26#39;t complain, so I think it%26#39;s just your basic motel.

The location is on a very busy street near the busiest intersection in Coeur d%26#39;Alene (appleway and Hwy 95). There are a lot of fast food restaurants in the immediate area and a few nice restaurants, too (like Tomato Street almost across the street).

If you%26#39;re booked there already, enjoy it and enjoy Silverwood. If you can change you might want to stay in one of the motels on Sherman ave. which is the main street in the cute little downtown area, close to the beach and the resort. There are some affordable motels there, but if you can%26#39;t change, don%26#39;t worry about it. I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll enjoy Guesthouse Inn -- just make sure you visit the downtown area and take a walk by the resort and beach. It%26#39;s beautiful in the summer.

Have a wonderful trip.

Guesthouse Inn

I know my hotels pretty well in town, the guesthouse is a typical economy brand hotel, you should expect no frills, but a clean room. I%26#39;ve met the new manager personally and she is working hard to change the poor reviews the guesthouse has received. She is working on redoing the interior right now. The exterior is a bit outdated and in need of some sprucing up which they will be working on in the future. I would say that all of the economy brand motels in town, guesthouse, super 8, motel 6, and days, are all equal. If you want an upgrade to a midscale hotel you would have to pay more for them.

I agree with Kirk and Mimi the Coeur d%26#39;Alene destination expert, the Flamingo and Resort City Inn on Sherman are really nice too, and should be economical as well because they are non-chain motels, and you definitely have to see downtown!

Silverwood is great don%26#39;t forget to try their huckleberry funnel cake if they%26#39;ve got it!

We stayed there one night a couple of years ago. We got their last room (there was some kind of high school tournament going on), and one of the previous guests had cut the cord to both the refrigerator and the microwave. The room was small, but it served our purpose well. It was $15 or $20 cheaper than the other nearby motels, and it was an easy walk to the Tomato Street. The breakfast area in the lobby is VERY small, but they did have a waffle maker. At that time, I thought it was a typical, budget chain motel. But the bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the price was right.

Thanks for all of your help, it%26#39;s been a few years since we have been to Idaho and the last trip we stayed in Post Falls so this time we thought staying in Coeur d%26#39;alene would be nice, I did check into a few other places before booking at the Guesthouse but they were either not available or the price was too high for us, we are paying $95 per night at Guesthouse for the 4 of us. Besides our visit to Silverwood we are looking forward to spending some time at the lake also and I will be sure and check out the downtown area..

Just one more question, Are there places in town to get discount tiks. to Silverwood?

good news spuddysmom3, I checked the silverwood web site and Guesthouse Inn is a Silverwood Lodging Partner, so they have discount tickets at the lodge. Here%26#39;s the link to that page

…silverwoodthemepark.com/lodging-partners.php

I would take KirkandMimi%26#39;s advice on that, the only place they would be cheaper is at CostCo and only then by $1, which will be made up for by gas and time by buying them at the hotel.

Thanks, I will definately check with the hotel and see waht kind of deals on tickets they have.

I checked on craigslist for our area and there are quite a few tickets. But, of course, buyer beware! I know Silverwood gives tickets to kids for reading through the schools, so unfortunately, this may be the tickets on craigslist. They are kind of like Disney, not big discounts anywhere. Burger King used to advertise a dollar or two off. And then, there is Costco. I would recommend a season pass, depending on how many days you are going. We get a gold pass every year and it admits 3 for about $250.

I would really suggest continuing to search on the hotel. The Guesthouse is in a very busy, noisy location and rents rooms by the week/month, leading to a sometimes transient clientele. I know because we have a mentally ill relative who often stays there in between housing... The rooms are about the same as an older Super 8 or Motel 6. The lobby is dreary and the breakfast area is dismal. I would check into the Silverlake Motel. (also closer to Silverwood) Post Falls, while a few miles down the road, would have cheaper hotels.

I found tickets at Costco here in Tacoma for 30.99(one day) so I am going to get them there. Thanks for all of your help. btw., I am sticking with the Guesthouse because the only other places available are out of my price range, seems like maybe it is a busy time?

Yep, Summer in Coeur d%26#39;Alene, is a busy time, there%26#39;s always tons of actvities going on in the area.
